Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future.

About the Project

Save Casper’s Queer History is more than a digital archive—it’s a community act of commemoration and celebration. For years, LGBTQ+ people in Casper have built lives, relationships, families, and communities—often quietly, sometimes invisibly. Their stories have unfolded in living rooms, church basements, parade routes, classrooms, and open Wyoming skies. But too often, those stories were left untold. This project is about changing that.

Launched with support from the Wyoming Humanities Council, this initiative brings together people across generations to share what might otherwise be lost—photos in shoeboxes or flyers from events long gone. With every contribution, we build a fuller, more honest portrait of life in Casper—one that includes the courage, creativity, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals who have always been part of this place.

This is about visibility. It’s about belonging. It’s about making sure that queer history in Casper isn’t something hidden—it’s something shared. Because when we preserve our past, we create space for a stronger, more connected future.

This archive will live on as an accessible and ever evolving collection with new contributions being added all the time.
